Work In Progress: Match Day

January 13th, 2009 by SM Dev (Ste)

The current ‘Match Day’ is being worked on as we have received a lot of suggestions in relation to custom game worlds and match day, and I mentioned some of these ideas last summer within this article.

The three areas which are being worked on are in relation to ‘Next Fixture’, Game Time (GT), and custom game worlds, and these improvements/new features will be introduced in the coming weeks.

In relation to ‘Next Fixture’ we are going to introduce something within ‘My Home’ that will display when each of your respective clubs next match day is as well as the kick off time.

This will help members of our community who manage multiple clubs to organise their respective clubs easier within their own time constraints.

In relation to Game Time (GT) we are going to change the kick off times for match day as suggested in this article. This would mean that new game worlds would have different kick off times, and not the current 8 pm GT for match day. In relation to existing game worlds, when they started a new season again they would be allocated a different kick off time, and this would coincide with the improvement  in relation to ‘Next Match’ (as discussed earlier).

The main benfit to this will mean that each Game World will be given a half an hour time slot in which the fixtures for that Game World will be played. Instead of waiting for your result to come in between 8 pm GT - 11 pm GT you will know that your result will know come in between, for example, 6 pm GT - 630 pm GT. This will also mean that your Game World will be ‘locked out’ for a shorter period of time giving you more time to make tactic changes and complete transfer deals. The current live Game Worlds will all be given a similair time as possible to 8 pm GT, most will range from 6pm GT to 1030 pm GT

Also we originally chose 8 pm GT for match day due to the majority of are users originating from the United Kingdom, however, due to the game becoming more global we need to accommodate members of our community from all corners of the globe

The change of kick off times for match day would also link in with  the new ‘Club Wizard‘ feature that is under development, as each game world would display the kick off times for match day, and this will help members from all corners of the globe chose a game world to match their time zone more easily.

By introducing different kick of times for match day it will enable (almost) instant results, and it will also accommodate members of our community from all corners of the globe as they will be able to find a game world using the ‘Club Wizard‘ to suit their time zone.

The above changes would also link into the article which I wrote last summer, as when you create a custom game world, you would be able to choose a kick off time for your match day (from a list of available slots). With SM being a global game with people from various time zones it will allow the owner to  choose a kick off time for their match day in relation to their location.

It would mean that when you are creating your custom game world, as well as using the options you have at present, you could choose for example to have a kick off time for your match day of 9pm Eastern Time if you are from the USA (due to a five hour time difference between the Eastern seaboard and United Kingdom). So basically you would (if you were from the Eastern seaboard of America) be creating your custom game world to cater for your friends and family (due to the time differences).

These new features/improvements are currently under development and will be ready in the coming weeks, and we hope that their introduction will enhance your experience.

Please Note: The above information that I have posted is subject to change whilst the new improvements/features are being developed.
