Messages: SM Improvements
July 29th, 2007 by SM Dev (Ste)
The new features/improvements to the SM site and game are all now located in one easy to access (and view) location. It now has its own section under the ‘Game’ menu which can be accessed via the top navigation menu.
All the features listed on that page will be worked on over the next few months. Each member is welcome to discuss any of the future improvements on the forum, as well as create new threads suggesting any improvements they would like to see. We try and read each post (and reply) if possible, and leave feedback on the suggestion.
We have also created (after discussion on the forum) a list of possible improvements to Custom Setups, and we will be doing a similar list for Gold Membership. Again feel free to discuss these potential improvements on the forum.

I’d like to see a Manager of the Month award and a Player of the Month award, with cash prizes awarded to the club who suceeds. I know we play in Turn. So maybe it can be awarded after 3 or 4 Turns.
Also this could lead to Manager and Player of the season.

i think that you can be able to get real staff to your club such as jose mourinho for assitant manager
3. steve | November 10th, 2007 at 12:58 am
i think in the league tables, you could use the space on the left, to insert the managers name, this way you can keep up to date with who has left and who is new, it would be cool to see your name, on the league table.
4. yons | December 30th, 2007 at 8:29 pm

6. Nozrul | January 30th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
sponsors choices would be a good idea. and what about members be able to buy the club if they are gold members?
7. Sebastiaan Sterel | February 19th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
i would like to know if you as a manager can talk to the fictional chairman. my chairman has been blocking lots of deals that include a certain out of favour player from Chelsea and various players in my own squad.
can anyone tell me why chairmans are unhappy with deals and if i can talk to them?
8. lois | February 20th, 2008 at 10:30 am
i think league history should be made available.
9. lois | February 20th, 2008 at 10:35 am
staff choices and training would also be a good idea
10. joey | February 21st, 2008 at 9:25 pm
players should tire less
11. adam | February 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I think that soccermanager should have like a youh league in your set-ups as you can put players in the youth squad but they dont really do anything , you should be able to have matches against other youth squads in your setup
12. Dave | February 26th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
You should change player ratings more often, depending on how well they’re playing in real games
13. adam alon | March 3rd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
once you are a gold member you should be able to make 3 custom setups, and when you make a league you should be abke to chose a starting amount of money for each club
14. shane | March 9th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
reserves, like the youth part so can place players unfit, injured , unwanted into there
15. simon | March 28th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Although i’ve read something along the lines. i’d like to see the head 2 head on the manager your playing against. all your wins loses etc against this manager. i also would like the manager rating to come more into play when your playing a high level manager. i dont know how this would work of course but it always got me nervous when i was playing a manager with a 100 rating and i was only 40 ! good when you win though ha ha
16. matt | March 30th, 2008 at 9:48 am
i think we should have playoffs
!!!
17. MACCERS | April 10th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
i think your all wollies lol some of them suggestions were poor lol
18. junaid rotimi | April 12th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
well i think it will be better if we can have only teams from thesame country in thesame league system, then in each world they will be uefa champions league and uefa cup
19. Callum Turner | April 15th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
i would like 2 have like a rugby version of soccer manager and the a prize for the most imporved team and it does not have 2 be the team who has won all the games just a team who has done well and well manage the best.
20. antonio da silva | April 15th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
1) i think all teams should have a max number of players i.e.25…
not like certain teams that possess 150+ players.
it will level the playing field , by making the competion more interesting and competitive and tactics will come to the fore.
2) tranfers should have a time limit.
if an interested club offers the amount asked for a player in the tranfer list ,then the seller will have i.e. 48 hours to respond or the transfer will automatically take place…first positive bid wins.
its fustrating and demotivating ,having to sit around for days waiting for someone to make his mind up!!
21. James Dear | May 16th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
i think that when you put in a bid for a player the chairman should not get involved in the transfer and block it i also think that the player ratings change to offtain and should be left longer
22. matt | May 20th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
yeh sm shood definitely make a rugby or maybe even cricket version, also i think you should be able to hire other staff to help your teams progress, also make the time u have 2 regularly hav 2 log in around 3 or 4 because i see people with awesome clubs like barcelona who havnt logged in, in 14days and then theres people like me who log every 1,2 or 3 days who enjoy the game more so that we could get better clubs to use regularly. LOL SOZ NO SENTENCES :^P
23. Delvaux | May 22nd, 2008 at 9:37 am
A good improvement is that when the season ends, you can do a squad trip to a camp or something, like the real clubs do.
So you can raise your morale of the youth squad and the reserves in your squad or maybe an option to talk to the player, like:
this is your match to raise his morale before a match or something.
24. Chippie | May 29th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
1) I think that player ratings should be based on SM performances
2) should be a time limit on transfers e.g 48 hours if no decision made offer automatically rejected
25. Rory Clynes | June 29th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
i’d like to see a “team of the month” showing how well, at the most of 3 players from each club who have consistently performed immensely through out the season and the players morale should be boosted up from this and they should perform evan better.
26. Rory Clynes | June 29th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
i also think there should be a “chairman moral” icon beside your club, this has a smiley face that is either;
very happy
happy
normal
and unhappy
jugging on the managers transfers in, and out and your table position the chairman should show weather he is happy or unhappy with your decisions. If there is a happy face, you should be able to borrow up to 5 million if he is unhappy, it is unknown weather you are able to borrow ANYTHING, if it is normal, you should only be allowed to borrow up to 2 million a season, and if the chairman is Very happy, you should be allowed to borrow up to 15 million, if your chairman decides to accept.
i hope you agree this is a great idea.
Rory Clynes.
27. jordan birtwistle | July 3rd, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I think that we should only get rep if we win and we should get a rep evertime we win a match or draw, but if we loose we sholdn’t get any.
28. Grimey | August 29th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Well, so far I have’nt experienced a major improvement.
I would like to see is managers responding to offers quickly so it does’nt waste the other managers time.
And there should be a rule on managers signing in to their accont more often, for example every week to respond to offers.
I hope this comment is taken into consideration (it makes the game enjoyable and easier).
Thank you.
29. ! | September 29th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Soccermanger has to change ratings more often. There shouldnt be like rating changes for only one league at a time. I think at the end of each season there should be like ” Star team” or gold team like in world cups. THey choose the best goalkeepers, defenders…etcc,,,,…….
30. jack reidy | October 1st, 2008 at 7:34 pm
can u make ur stadium capacity bigger.if so how do u do it
31. Manager of the month | October 4th, 2008 at 9:38 am
it would be cool if ther wer manager of the month or week, and also if there were a team of the week a selection of all the best players in one week
32. James | October 15th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I Think there should be an extra Cup added. A cup like the Johnstones Paint trophy for league 2,3 and 4 teams to take part in. This could make lower league jobs more popular.
33. Owen | October 21st, 2008 at 5:07 pm
I think there are far to many injuries are going on this is no where near any reflection of real life…..Also the ratings of players needs to be done on a more regular basis according to how they are doing in real life (I,E Ronaldinho is out of favour but is still rated a 96) Yet Defoe & Walcott are both awesome at the moment and both must be worth at least a 93 ?????
34. pat | October 28th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
i would really like to see youth leagues and cups, this would make this great game soo much better. it should be optional as some teams dont have alot of youth players but this game is lacking in this department.
35. nat | November 1st, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I agree with “James” there should be a lower league cup because I have mainy lower league teams that have little chance of winning a cup as all the top league teams win them all the time.
36. Josh | December 9th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
How about a formation editor under the tactics menu?
A bit like Fifa 09, with the option to edit players positions. A bit of control over formations would be nice, and gives managers the oppurtunity to seek a tactical advantage over opponents, rather than just using one of the pre-set formations.
I can’t see how it would make the game unfair, as it is still 11 vs. 11 at the end of the day.
37. andy | January 10th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
1)youth/reserve teams leagues sound good
2) if the manager doesnt accept within 48 hours SM should do it for them based on the offer and rating stuff
3)should be longer between seasons eg 4 weeks to build your squad and have propa pre season tournaments
4)ratings should be based on SM games not real life and when your on search you should be able to search by how many goals tey’ve scored
5)you should be able to ask your chairman for more money
6)there should be 4 cups the 2 normal ones, one for divisions 1 and 2 and one for division 3 and 4 and the extra ones should include group stages eg 4 groups 5 in each league
7) in new setups there should be like a week long registering period and when thats over everyone who’s registered gets given a team randomly
other than that this games boss thanks for readind:P
38. Chris | January 22nd, 2009 at 7:26 pm
I would like to see managed and unmanaged clubs on/off box in the advanced player team search section, as I spend hours looking for players to improve my teams and managed teams never seem to want to sell with my funds available, unmanaged teams also in the league tables as we used to see when I first joined.
39. ZEN | January 27th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Formation editor under the tactics menu
Direction and roles and marking type for individual.
The setted formation is too less, i suggest we can set a custom formation. It is for us to set the position of the players freely.
For example; My defensive mid can Man-mark Kaka or my both CB can man-mark striker
I also suggest to make arrow of my Striker going which position. player i can chose to run to position With arrow.

i would like to see manager contracts applied to managers.as this would stop some managers jumping from club to club.its not fair on managers that try and build a decent squad.some managers do not even stay at there club for one game its ridiculous. The manager part of this game is a shambles. This would not happen in real life football.I was in a league last season championship 154 and i never seen so many managers jumping clubs it cost me the league title.
41. mario | February 28th, 2009 at 1:21 am
how about adding instant messaging in a separate or same window with online friends..
42. Paolo | March 3rd, 2009 at 9:08 am
İ think coul be nice an injury list of players for each division to see unlucky teams and preview the match. Then so real can be injuries during the week in training time without play match. To give this game more surprises and to make play young players that never will play if others are always healthy
43. Nate Yianni | March 17th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Yeh Manager of month and player of month (turn) That would be great
44. michael david | March 20th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
how bout keepers having goals conceded on there stats instead of goals scored surely this has to be done
45. Kye | April 4th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
When the season ends, we should have pre-match games before the season starts
46. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
more realistic feeling with,
if in the real world Man U buy Kaka 80Mil
so in the game Manager of Milan will also get offered in the same amount of real world , then it depended on manager of the game if he’s ok then he can get money and also Man U will have Kaka without paying anything in game world , also Man U manager have to agree on the deal too , so this might make the game a bit more realistic
47. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
in column “next game” should have at least next 2 game so we can plan how to choose players , now i have to go back to schdule and see it
48. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
i used to play CM ages ago , repsonse with the news gave me a good feeling , feel like i’m a real Manager !! haha
49. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
if my ideas chosen a lot , i would be considered to get more team to manage or any other special offer, or some thing like this
would motivate people to give a good idea
50. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
i’m a real fan of soccer,
i think most people in here are the same as me,
then i think log in limit is too much !! some game allow 30 days!!
u think if some one who login once a month will play a good game , they will make the game boring ,
i real life no manager who come to work like that , no manager response bids from others once or twice a month ,
i thin this will improve our feeling amoung soccer lover ,
51. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
substitute option !
1. change one who has lowest perform
2. change who get booked after 75 mins
3. who get condition lower than 65% after 75 mins
4. swap highest rated player afte r75 mins with youngest player, in the same position
5. change formation or player if get 1 or 2 red card
6. changing for time wasting when 1-0 score
52. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
give me a note space!!
i have many players in my shortlist
some times too many
if i could take note , example
1. this is my 1st choice of buying
2. waiting for contract expire
3. once i have enough fund to buy this player , remind me then!
4. rate them (like star in Win Media player)
53. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
scount hire & commision!
i you like youngters!
hire scout , so
if you buy young player as scout ’s advise , example
scount advise me to buy Welbeck
if i buy him and in the next 6 months rate increased by 3 then i have to pay 2mil additional for scout,
if rate increase more than 10 (like Dzagoev) you might have to pay 5 mil additional,
if you unlucky rated decrease , you still have to pay scout fees,
so this might give more feel of management, invest, risk.,,,
54. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
for all my ideas today,
some time it’s might be too much for beginner or someone who just wanna play only , not much interested in more management,
in setup page or config , should have tick box or some thing that you can set your control example
1. basic manage (simple tactic only)
2. upper level = + advance tactic+ scout manage
3. Advance = fully functional management , total management
55. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
to improve my own youth player,
player skill based on realistic + their form which might effacted by tactic of manager and no. of games played
Ex. Welbeck = 83 rated , rated would be up or down +- 2
+ if manager put him in the right posi tion or enough game play
- if get long seat on the bench
56. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
when i see in “Schedule”
example
Manu U VS. Aresenal
should have poistion in front of team name too,
(1st) Man U VS. (4th) Arsenal
to feel more how should i put XI
57. koong32 | May 4th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
if one of my idea was chosen , please put some symbol in front of my message or send me some email , so i can know that game developer read it, it doesn’t matter you will do it as my idea or not , i just wanna know that you really read what you asked me to…
if my ideas was taken into your account in some way , i will feel worth to think and want to put some more idea in, always
i love this game
58. lloyd | June 12th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
a quick suggestion.
when we are offered a position to manage another club i think we should be able to view the finances of the club. i often refuse these new jobs as i have no idea on the clubs financial position.
thanks. keep up the good work.
59. Chimp | September 15th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
i think they should introduce manager contracts, not as much for the expectations, but for the length of time they spend with a club. For me there is nothing more frustrating than joining a game world and then 2 months later being one of the only managers playing. Make players commit to a club to tackle this.
60. Bossy Boots | September 25th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
1. Friendlies should be PRE-Season.
2. Domestic cup matches are too close to the previous league fixture. Basically you have to desert one match to sustain fitness levels.
3. Asking prices for players on the transfer list should be no more than 2.5 times their value. Otherwise it encourages people to strip clubs of their cash, making those clubs a liability to manage from then on.
4. Youth teams should be no more than 24 players. From then on it’s all about luck in rating increases. Some larger clubs just hoard the best sub 20 year olds.
5. Never seen a 15 yr old player in this game, the youngest players should have more regular rating increases, otherwise as a small club you can spend your small transfer budget on promising young players who stay at the same rating for so long that with this new player mood facility, it will mean they are forcibly sold before their rating increases.Usually at a reduced price.
