Ideas & Suggested Improvements: Player to Player Chemistry

September 1st, 2009 by SM Dev (Ste)

We welcome all suggestions and ideas so please keep them coming and the most interesting will be posted within SM News, just like we have done with Jason’s idea:

This suggestion goes along with the team chemistry idea. It is well known that a new player added to a squad will need some time to adjust to his new partners, but most people forget that a usual back-up player doesn’t normally play with the first team squad. It would be nice to have not only a total team chemistry but also a player by player chemistry. A good example of this would be Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka. The two players did not play all that well together when first paired, but since the start of this season and the end of last, they have started to link up and read each other a lot better. Just some food for thought from an avid football/futbol/soccer fan. Thanks for making the best game online.

This is an interesting idea which Jason has put forward and one that we can look into and possibly introduce in the near future.

  • 2. Ontario  |  September 1st, 2009 at 2:07 pm

I dunno I think it could be made into a great idea….

in the real world we get to find out over time if players can play with other players well but in the game world it would be just the same as tossing a coin and saying heads they play well taills they dont

silly idea. what’s the use of this??

  • 5. LxDj  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:09 pm

First we need Player AI (Player’s Requesting Transfers, Player’s Refusing to sign, Player’s Refusing to sign new contracts etc)

Not big on this idea dont see the point

  • 7. david  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:33 pm

whats the point?!?!?!?! i think theyve made the game too realistic its only a game so keep it as a game. They should get rid of the whole budget and transfer money as if you sell a player for 10 million and you need all that 10 million to buy a player you might only be allowed to spend 5 million and will not be able to buy the player you want

  • 8. Gary  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:50 pm

    Is this idea for real?

What on earth is it supposed to bring to the game, so if i sign a player he’ll be next to useless until he’s been out for a few beers with John Terry and Frank Lampard?????

    On another point…

#7 in all game worlds i’m in if you sell a player for £10 million then you get that £10 million back in your budget

  • 9. shane  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:57 pm

yes better player (AI )as sick of my rb who can only play in that postion always getting a crap match rating no matter what formation i play . If said rb is rated at 91 by SM but plays crap every week then surely is rating would drop even in real life

Don’t like this idea…plus it’s “Nicolas” Anelka, not Nicholas…how avid can he be?

  • 11. thomas  |  September 1st, 2009 at 8:18 pm

this is a fantasy site, doesn’t matter which players get on and which players don’t get on.

Not all players usually get on all the time, they usually fall out most of the time, plus, chemistry, as if, you saying players would be in love with players just cos of the way they’re worked together on the pitch.

hmm, chemistry or not, this is a fantasy site, players chemistry make no difference, its only a game, end of.

Nope, will stagnate the transfer market as top teams wont want to sell anyone, infact noone unless they dramitically increase their squad ratings will wnat to affect squad chemistary

2nd get your useless match engine sorted first & stop thinkling about adding flashy ideas… to an already useless engine.

the idea is good i love it

  • 14. Dorutzu  |  September 2nd, 2009 at 9:59 pm

first of all solve the issues with fitness condition and with that morale and after move to these stupid ideas which are too much for a game like sm which is dieing slowly right now…

  • 15. alex bardsley  |  September 3rd, 2009 at 3:55 pm

yeAh could work i like it . it could open up more possiblits for small teams lets say addebayor and tevez have played welll together but the manager buys roony and plays him with tevez but they play terribly and together the manager may but adebayor back on and sell roony for the funds!!

Totally pointless sort out the match engine, fitness problems, schedule problems and dont waste time on xtras

  • 17. ryan jamie  |  September 7th, 2009 at 10:16 am

another pointless idea!! im agreein with the fellow comments on match engine problem that really does need sortin! the result system is gettin realli bad!! player morale shud be scrapped thats pointless!! if players transfer value is goin up then transfer budget shud also go up! blocked deals by sm…this is killin the game cos ur overuling the actual manager and inteferin in them doing there job! i think more could be done for unmanaged teams like they actualli buy players which wud make more players available at unmanaged clubs for transfers as there is just 2 many unmanaged teams in lots n lots of games that u have got that will never be managed ever again! if it was up 2 me id turn this game round very quickly lol some of the ideas that have been brought r totalli useless 2 the game and i dont understand y the problems in the game r not gettin looked at

  • 18. Jamie Cormack  |  September 8th, 2009 at 6:52 am

good idea mate. Well the game is judged by how players play in real life and get an avrage rating so this will make it more realistic..
only thing is if i buy 2 new Strikers my team will play pore for a while :(

  • 19. Nik kin  |  September 8th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

I’m not sure I like the idea of ‘player to player’ chemistry, sounds complicated. but I would like to see an indication of ‘team morale’ or ‘club morale’ to go with the current ‘player morale’. When a team is playing well it would be higher and gates would be larger or less injuries, etc…

  • 20. ben  |  September 10th, 2009 at 3:07 am

I believe there is enough make-realistic improvements for even anymore.

  • 21. Daniel  |  September 12th, 2009 at 11:13 am

They said they were bringing in unmanaged clubs buying players months ago yet still nothing. They should defo concentrate on that instead of stupid ideas like this or creating more champs with ten people in them!

  • 22. Rob  |  September 16th, 2009 at 3:44 pm

This is just another idea which seems OTT and too complicated.
I used to like this game because of how simple it was.
If you want a million different features in a simple football manager game, then go by one of the ones for PC.

Soccermanagers brilliance used to be in its simplicity.
The more real life features they try incorporate the more OTT SM gets.

if this feature has to be included, at least have it as a hidden element. The only way managers should be able to work out players chemistry, is by performances and ratings. Ie a players rating not performing = drop that player.

  • 23. Matt  |  September 22nd, 2009 at 10:40 pm

Well, I like the more reality, but only IF it doesn’t make the game complicated. So I am for this idea, but perhaps if its something that affects the outcome of the game and cant be seen?

  • 24. Arif tazmanian  |  April 13th, 2010 at 9:12 am

I Hope the soccer manager will be a reality online game like make a friendly match againsts managed club, communication with squad and others.Thank you.Make more improvement.SM is the best online soccer manager in the world.

  • 25. carl ward  |  April 16th, 2010 at 3:50 pm

i think player chemistry is one of the worst ideas that people have come up with on here, why would players have chemistry on here that have never played together in the real world.
