Do You Have a SM Rival?

Tomorrow the Camp Nou will host one of the biggest matches in world football - El Clásico. The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is massive (to say the least), and you can read all about it in this link.

Do you have a rival in SM?

I thought I would include some dramatic music for you listen in the form of ‘Requiem for a Dream’ whilst you think about the above question.

For example another manager could be a rival because you find that you are always competiting against them for silverware (or even in the transfer market).

So do you have a rival in SM?

    Of Course!
    We joined the same setup together and since then we are the champions there.
    We have occupied the top 2 positions for 5 seasons
    And he is my cousin :D

    My rival is Damien Gorman, we are rivals in a variety of setups, our rivalry has lasted 6 months and is only getting more competitive.

    It has to be my brother and father, we each joined the same setup (World League 2009) and i picked up Inter Milan, with my father Villarreal (in the same division) and my brother picked up America (4th Division :p), my fathers 1 point ahead of me atm though :@ :)

    yes my brother who’s id is rafa rioja and he is barcelona on my main league where i have Liverpool- but also he is in two of my other leagues. Whenever a good player becomes available its everyman for himself and who can sign him beforew the other realises.

    My rival is someone called Martin Rimmer, ever since we were little we have always tried to beat each other in whatever we do, often when we were younger it resulted in arguments. All though we are very good mates the rivalry between my palermo side and his espanyol side is as fierce as ever.

    yes, my friend Nino brown, who is also a gold member in the same national league and we are also in a variety of other leagues always competing for the titles. probably my biggest sm win was beating his roma team 3-1 away with my milan team in gold championship 19

    Mine has to be Tony Beddows, met in a standard occupied top 2 for 2 seasons and then we both joined an EC and again took top 2 spots for a few seasons..

    I made a custom and let him join and he pipped me to top spot 3 seasons running..

    He’s a class manager and i like beating him when we play each other

    If I said that there was not one person who I particularly pit my team against, I would be lying.
    Rich (Richard) Dedicoat has served SM for as long as I have (however I was caught cheating during the beginning of my time, hence the huge gap in reputation), and is the only manager to have participated within my setups for as long as I have. The record between the two of us is quite evenly matched, however I hope that in the future my new youth squad will peek over his.

    Mine changes every 2-3 seasons as I only compete in one Setup, it’s the manager who can give me a decent run for the title.

    My rival is my m8 in r/l and surpisingly he is real and im barca lol so its like a team rival but it wouldnt matter wich team we were we are rivals to compete to be the best managers of the leauge me both end up finishing 1st or 2nd first season he was first and i finished 4th second season i won the sheild and finished first and he finished 5th and got to the final of the cup lol
    but we are good freinds in r/l

    Mine has to be eveyone that has encountered me. Just kidding, it has to be my brother, we always try to join the same set ups just to try and compete, he brought me into this game, and I made him a gold member. Wont lie, he usually has the upper hand.

    Cally Annett, Known Him For As Long As Ive Been Active On The Game.

    In Many Setups Together, Too Many To Mention.

    We’ve Had Great Battles, Prior To Everymatch Its a Dice Throw Whos Gona Come out On Top, You Just Don’t Know What Way Its Gona Go.

    Other Matches I Look Foward To Are Against Danny RSCA, Larry Threadwell, Mr How.. Those Seem To be The Ones At The Moment, Usually The Ones I’m In Contact With Regulary.

    Comming Up Against Anyone I Know or Good Managers From The Forum Would Count As a Rivalry I Suupose.

    Have Other Rivals {Club Wise} In Particular Setups Aswell..

    Norwin Wiedmann in GC 20, I don’t know him but he is New York and I’m DC United. It’s an arms race in the N.American league. I was dominating that setup until he showed up and started spending some money and building a nice squad. He beat me in the cup final, preventing me from getting the treble! He and I will be the Big 2 in that division for some time I think :)

    ye his name is Caelb Chee. We joined a setup and I stated in the paper that my team was the best. He blasted me. Since then we are fierce rivals when our teams play but good friends. I love beating him- just that the only time he beat me it was a flogging (4-1) but Ive made up for it in other games:)

    has to be my brother and the ones i have listed as friends. they aren’t in the same setup anymore which is a shame, but my brother is tho. we’re in the same division, but he’s ahead by a lot because the previous manager (of Milan, who i took over form) wasn’t too good. i have a better squad than my brother though (he’s Werder Bremen). We are in WC 1983 if i’m not mistaken

    i did have a rival, my brother, but sm has banned us from being in the same setup from now on despite the face a deal has never been put through between us, in any setup… EVER. this in fact has slightly ruined the game for me as we cannot join new setups together neither are we allowed to deal in the setups we are in

    Mine’s Danny Farooq, he managed Boca Juniors before me in WC1430 (which i joined after reading an article here about it being competitive). We’ve been at each others throats in the newspaper throught the season.
    Unfortunatly (for me) he’s beaten me every time we’ve met, although only just, and it took penalties to separate us in the cup
    I’m looking forward to facing him on the 20th December, i want to get some REVENGE

    Well i have a rival and his name is Matty
    Hes a good mate of mine and we are in 3 setups together. He always is like the last man to me (e.g. im 1st and he’s 2nd lol) but he always beats me in the matches we have, so i guess he is my rival

    ill beat him one day, just wait haha :)

    yes, boca juniors as i have competed with them in both cup and shield finals (they beat me twice) but i won division 2 they finished second :L they also beat me to the signature of sergio ramos i bid 85m they bid 86 :(

    as a reply to Ben Watts(34) he is right we have probably had one of the longest rivalrys in Soccer manger history. we have clashed for over a year now in 3 of his setups(for which i am very grateful he created)i would like to say i have had the majortity of the wins but as he has said it is quite evenly matched and if any thing he has won more matches over the spread of around 50 that have taken place.but i put that down to him been barca in all 3 leagues:P and about the youth squad…haaaa…mine will always be better end of!! so there you go people. may i hope that are long long rivarly will continue.

    Barca manager Raj Kumar has to be my rival. Although both our teams are evenly matched(sort of) his expert like manager skills make him win, bearing in mind this is my first season in the setup, I think in the seasons to come there will be a tough competition unfolding.

    One guy beat me in the playoffs for promotion after I beat him twice in the league. He didn’t reply to my goodwill message either, and then went after 5 of the same players in the off season that I made moves on. Subsequently he quit the league, which kind of ticked me off considering he got a team he obviously didn’t care about promoted.

    Aye, i went to buy Christiano Ronaldo For Barcelona and when i looked a bid had just gone through for Inter Milan - I was like NOOO. And i tried to match it but he started to bid big $$$’s and good players, so over the period of a week we battled it out for him until it just wasnt worth it anymore. = (. But I beat him in getting Kaka cos he was skint after breaking the bank for Ronaldo >: )

    Yes, his name is Grant …

    I sold every player at Derby in order to raise funds for my ideal team. I was unaware of the new feature of players being able to reject moves, even those as small as Sinama Pongolle. As a result, I left. The hard work was done though and the new manager had £160,000,000 to spend. But what did he do? He sent me a message saying ‘I’m poor’ despite being the top manager in 80% of my setups. As a result, I took charge of a weaker team, Sheffield Wednesday. My side is still being cleared out, and although Derby have DAVID VILLA, I am higher than them. I will gain promotion and laugh at him once I’m done.

    Message 74 remains anonymous in order to avoid proving that ridiculous statistic. Soccer Manager would not allow you to win that many games in advance. It would fix a result in order for it to seem balanced.

    im america and if friendlies count then i have the upper hand at the moment but if not then we are tied record is Arsenal 3-2-3 (3-2-4) America 3-2-3 (4-2-3 this is with the friendly played)
    he will not sale me his players so i wont either unless i need the money but with buffon and quaresma recently joining my team i dont think hell be able to score many goals as for quaresma al the assists he will make and goals

    They have a massive budget every year
    I am Liverpool

    me and 4 of my friends are managers of teams in the same setup and we’re always trying to outdo each other. i usually finish out on top but there’s one guy who annoyingly beats me in the big games, and manages to sign players i badly need for my poor battered coventry squad! last season was the final straw as he pipped me to promotion and beat me in the cup semi’s so took about 20 mil of cash that was rightfully mine lol. as if that wasn’t bad enough he manages and supports the mutton molesting scum (i’m a massive forest fan!) i hope to get my own back this season though as he is know struggling in the top flight and i’m running away with the league below him. also we have just reached the cup quarters, and we have both have easy ties, so i’m hoping to get him on the way to a clean double sweep! ahh the sweet taste of rewengay!

    Anyhoos, Leigh used to be my rival along with Dan Payne, but SoP, Sparky and AFCTU Jacko are my big rivals. I have alot of respect for Dai Winston but i havent come across his path much except in GC5 , so there is a rivalary developing :)

    All top GC managers are my rivals. :)

    Peter Cirillo. He manages Fenerbaches (Im Santos) and we are the only 2 managers who buy the big young players

    He got Busquets, Rafael da Silva and many more :(

    I got a big rival, I use Roma and 5-3-2 sweeper to defeat his Manchester United. The result is Roma 8 - ManUtd 2.

    I got a few but i’m just here to make a suggestion.Why doesn’t SM make it possible for members to have inter-game worlds friendlies.So that it enables the members to challenge their rivals using the club that they believe is their best.And in turn the rival can also use his/her best club.I think it’d be a good idea.

    My rival is Alex Rochester. We both play in Joe Bellerby’s League. I’m VFB Stuttgart and Alex is Sporting Lisbon. So far this season, we’ve played 6 games this season. The results go:
    Stuttgart 0-3 Sporting (LEAGUE)
    Stuttgart 2-0 Sporting (CUP)
    Stuttgart 2-1 Sporting (LEAGUE)
    Stuttgart 1-1 Sporting (FRIENDLY)
    Stuttgart 1-1 Sporting (LEAGUE)
    Stuttgart 3-0 Sporting (FRIENDLY)

    So it’s 9-6 on aggregate and we’re gonna play 1 more game at the end of the season.

    Of course….Manager of Leed i chose team from english 4th league and he chose from 3rd league. We cannot meet eachother till he doesnt stop….now im in 3rd div and he is in 2 div. Both again 1st in our div. But my politic is buy young players while he just trying the best from all age player…comparing to our 3rd division til now im doing better after 9 match…we will see i hope to meet him in 1st div or cup and defeat….
